Dead Tired

Hola de Espana!

I am sitting in the lobby of my hotel because my room is not ready yet. Here it's 12:30 pm, but my brain is telling me it's 3:30 am and I need sleep now! I'm going to take a nap as soon as they give me my room key.

Anyway, I won't post about the flight because it was boring and consisted of watching several mediocre movies and having the lady behind push on my chair through the entire flight.

Madrid is very cool, at least what I saw of it from the bus. I took pictures from the window and I can't wait to post them here. The roundabouts all have big beautiful fountains in the middle and all the buildings have apartments on the upper floors. There is a lot of graffiti. It's not overwhelming but definitely more than even San Francisco. I didn't take pictures of the graffiti to share; I hope you're not too disappointed. My program director described our hotel as "the sh*t" because it is right in the middle of downtown and next to the Prado. Tonight we're going on a panoramic tour of the city and we'll have a meeting to discuss culture. But right now I'm going to go take a nap because they finally gave me my room key! Sweet dreams all!

Tomorrow

I really don't feel like I'm going to Spain tomorrow. In 14 hours I will be boarding my flight to Washington DC and it seems like it's not really happening. I can't picture what the next 6 weeks of my life are going to look like, but I'm sure they are going to be amazing! I will post again when I get to Madrid. Wish me luck!

Housing Assignments!

I just got my housing assignment today! I am living with an older couple and only a 10 min walk from the Plaza Mayor. My roommate is Dana. I e-mailed her earlier and can't wait to hear back.

This whole trip is starting to seem real.

I have my housing assignment and dates for my excursions. I will be doing an optional excursion to Aviero, Portugal. It's a little more money but I really want the experience. It's supposed to be like Venice, Italy where the city is full of canals.
I'm also trying to find a cheap way to go to Paris to see the end of the tour de France. The ISA office is supposed to be very helpful with travels in Europe so I'll figure it out when I get there. So excited!
