Los Santos Inocentes por Miguel Delibes

Hola!

Classes today! In my language class we finished going over the future tense and tomorrow we start conditional. Oh joy! In my history class we spent quite a bit of time talking about the fact that the 75th anniversary of the start of the Spanish Civil war was today. We actually talked about contemporary history!!! But then we watched a movie about King Felipe III; at least we’ve moved on a generation. His shirt and watch didn’t quite match as well today, but he got a haircut. Some girls asked if he got a haircut and he replied by saying even though he looked different his insides were still the same. I’m going to say that the next time someone asks me if I cut my hair. My literature class was nothing new; we just talked about another poem we had to read. In my culture class we finished talking about the Spanish holidays and began contemporary history. It’s beginning to look like I’ll learn more contemporary history in my culture class than in my contemporary history class.

For lunch we had pasta with the meat sauce again, which I like so it was all good. After lunch we went to the park. We meaning Dana, Erin, Crystal, Rachael, and I. I worked on my homework there but didn’t stay more than an hour because I had to run some errands. I went into old town and decided to explore a little bit. I went down a little side street and found a little bookstore. I promptly bought the Spanish version of the first Harry Potter book. Then I walked down to the official store of the University of Salamanca and bought a folder so my papers aren’t always falling out of my notebook. Just a short walk later and I was at the ISA office.

In my literature class we need to write a 3 page essay on a work by a Spanish author. I went to the ISA office because they have a little library of Spanish novels. I was staring confusedly at the books trying to decide where to even begin searching when Carmen (our ISA director) asked if I needed assistance. I told her my circumstances and immediately she picked out the shortest, easiest book for me to read and then let me check out the movie as well. She even told me to bring my essay to her when I was done with it and she would correct it! It was so nice! I’m going to start reading it tomorrow!

Dinner was a Spanish tortilla, which is really a ham and cheese omelet. I just finished up some homework and I think I’m going to go to bed early tonight as I am super tired! Good night everyone! Sleep tight!
