Pah-tay Tomorrow!

Hello my blog followers!

Today has been a long day! I’ll skip ahead to my classes. My language class was as engaging as ever. NOT. We did ser versus estar worksheets for 2 hours. In comtemporary history we’re still on the reign of Felipe II in the 1500s. He ends each class by saying “Manaña más, pero no mejor porque es imposible” which means: Tomorrow more, but not better because it’s impossible. And he had a green shirt on with 2 green watches. He also spent the first 10 minutes of class on a website that sells shirts with funny sayings in Spanish. In literature we went over a beautiful poem called A José María Palacio by Machado, and I have to write a page long commentary about it by Monday. My homework tonight is a page long commentary about another poem. In culture class we started learning about the different holidays and how they are celebrated in Spain. Christmas Eve is a huge celebration and Christmas day isn’t as important. On the New Year they eat a grape with each toll of the midnight bell, so 12 grapes in all. They’re Times Square ball drop thing is in the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. They also have the three magis come the night of January 6 and drop off gifts for the good children and a little piece of ‘coal’ which is actually a marshmallow.

Then we went to lunch and had a Spanish version of chicken noodle soup, which has egg in it. Surprise! I think they put egg in everything here; and then two pieces of fried fish. They always give us a slice of watermelon after lunch too, ever since Dana told them that it was her favorite. But, they won’t give us melon after dinner because it causes indigestion in the evening. Has anyone else ever heard of that because it was news to me.

Not too long after lunch I went to a futbol game (soccer for you Americans out there). It was with the program I came with, ISA, and we did summer 2 versus summer 3. I am in summer 3. Anyway, it was like 80 degrees out and my uncoordinated self tried its hardest to not mess anyone else up too bad, but we still lost 7-3. Hopefully I burned off some of these extra calories I’ve been ingesting.

Speaking of calories, I just got back from dinner with some friends. We went to a Mediterranean place that was really good. Unfortunately, it was also a hookah bar. So, when the others started doing it I left just to go home. But tomorrow is my birthday and I’m going to go out and pah-tay! I’ll update you all about it tomorrow!
