Hey all!
Today is my birthday! It started out normal enough. My language class sang to me, and we did nothing else of consequence. In my history my teacher pulled my ear 21 times, 20for my age and one as an extra. This is apparently the custom in Spain. He was wearing anoragne shirt with one orange watch and one white watch today. And we were still talking about the reign of Felipe II. My literature class also sang to me. We didn’t read any new poems today, but instead talked about some authors and what they liked to write about.
After school, I walked home and had lunch. She served us a bean and chorizo soup. I was done after the soup (I even left some extra so the would stop feeding me so much), but then they brought out chicken and gave me two pieces! The sauce they were in was so delicious. I was really full, but then they brought out this little flan with a candle stuck in it and sang me happy birthday. It was so cute! I wish I had my camera on me so I could have taken a picture! Needless to say, I ate that too.
I also decided that I was going to go Barcelona in a few weeks! Dana and I booked our flight after lunch and we met up with the rest of the people who were going too and booked out hostel. I then met some friends at Valor and had a valor sundae. It was way too chocolatey and rich for me, but my friend Jessica liked it a lot. We did a little shopping and I walked back home in time for dinner.
Dinner today was hamburgers! They aren’t the same as American burgers; they have different spices in the meat. I didn’t finish it and they were all shocked and demanded I tell them what happened.
Soon after we went out for the night! Pah-tay time!
First, we went to Jazz en la calle and listened to beautiful Jazz music. It was exciting, especially because they sang in English! Next, we went to a bar and some of the people had agua de Valencia: orange juice, vodka, and champagne. It was pretty boring since they had big cups and couldn’t leave until they finished. Then we stopped shortly at a club called Cubic before we left to go to a shot bar. Three people bought me shots. I had a kiwi one, sorbet de limon, and one that tasted like starbucks with alcohol. I cut myself off there. We went back to Cubic and danced for awhile, and then headed off to sleep. Breakfast is at 10 tomorrow, which is too early for me! Tell you guys all about my first Saturday in Salamanca, tomorrow!
Happy birthday to me!
