Universidad de Salamanca

Hello!

Let’s start with classes, since we already have the morning routine down pat. My language class was boring as ever, we finally started covering the very last past tense so hopefully we move on soon! In my history class we’re still talking about the 1500s. Every day he says it’s the last day we’re going to cover this stuff. Literature was okay, today is the first day we didn’t have homework, which is SUPER nice! Culture was the same; we just talked about the different regions of Spain. Lunch was French fries and some fried pork, which was really good. The sure love their pig here. Afterwards I went on a tour of the very first building ever built for the prestigious University of Salamanca. It was built in the 1500s and is incredibly ornate. There is a frog in the front and it’s supposed to be good luck if you find it. I found it! But I had a little help. Every room is named after a famous professor that taught there, and some have the original furniture. The stairs have all these carvings about how you won’t succeed as a student if you give into the perils of women and booze. Also, it was common to pee in corners before indoor plumbing was invented, and to discourage this behavior they painted saints in the corners, because who can pee in front of painted saints?

I bought nutella and bread at the store so I can make sandwiches to get me through the long break between breakfast (8 am) and lunch (3pm). Dinner was yummy. We had chicken marinated in olive oil and garlic. And now I’m going to go to sleep! Good night world!
